Ondo Finance has launched “Ondo Global Markets”, a platform that allows non-U.S. investors to access tokenized versions of over 100 U.S. stocks and ETFs on the Ethereum blockchain. These tokenized assets are fully backed by the corresponding securities held with U.S.-registered broker-dealers and can be minted, redeemed, and transferred 24/7 (subject to regional restrictions).
Unlike earlier tokenized equity platforms, Ondo’s tokens are transferable across wallets and can be used within decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.

How It Works
Each token – such as AAPLon (for Apple) – represents the value of a real stock, including dividends, minus applicable taxes. When a user acquires a token, Ondo’s platform purchases the underlying stock, which is then held in custody. The token tracks the full economic return of the stock, and can be redeemed at market value during traditional trading hours.
This model is designed to prevent issues like wide spreads or price dislocations, which have affected other tokenized stock projects. Price feeds are provided by Chainlink, and redemption mechanisms support arbitrage to keep token prices aligned with their underlying assets.

Integration and Expansion Plans
At launch, the platform is integrated with major wallets and applications, including Trust Wallet, Bitget Wallet, Ledger Live, and several DeFi protocols. Ondo also plans to expand to other chains such as BNB Chain, Solana, and its own upcoming Ondo Chain.
Support for hundreds more tokenized assets is expected by the end of the year. According to the company, tokenized assets will also be usable as collateral for borrowing or staking, and may be incorporated into onchain wealth management tools.
Despite the scale of the launch, the price of the ONDO token increased only 2.5% on the day. Over the past month, ONDO’s overall price movement has remained relatively flat.

Restrictions
The offering is not available to U.S. residents, and the tokens do not grant legal ownership of the underlying stocks or voting rights. They are intended to provide economic exposure, not shareholder privileges.
Ondo Global Markets positions itself as a bridge between traditional finance and DeFi, aiming to expand access to U.S. securities through blockchain infrastructure.
